Mulch is the base of the hydroseeding mixture, carrying the grass seed, fertilizer, and tackifier mix to the ground. It provides a layer that retains water, prevents erosion by holding down the soil, creates a blockage barrier to suppress weeds, and assists with regulating soil temperature. The seed settles in the mulch giving it a safe place to begin to germinate during summer, or during winter, a safe protected place to lie dormant. Mulch can be a few different substances, but we use predominantly wood based mulches.
